Etymology of the ethnonym “Bulgarian” (enlarged & corrected version Jan.12, 2023)

Based on the precious information of the
Roman-Gothic historian Jordanes about the Huns sacromontisii and fossatisii,
the author Chavdar Ivaylov Georgiev proposes new Indo-European etymologies (the
first of their kind in Indo-European comparativistics) of the ethnonym “Bulgarian”, the
Proto-Bulgarian tribal names emnə̄čūr (“imən” in the compilation of Volga-Bulgarian chronicles “Jagfar tarihy”) and ulčinǰūr,
the Proto-Bulgarian word čūr ~ ǰūr ‘clan, tribe’, the Proto-Bulgarian personal names Denǰik, Hərnaq
~ Hərnək, Aspavruk → Asparuq, the Proto-Bulgarian word “бел” [bel] ‘tall, big, large; giant; great’ in “Jagfar tarihy” – enlarged and corrected version
