The rays of the awakening sun promised another hot morning. The personnel of St.G 2 Immclmann were slowly setting to their morning tasks. The unit had arrived at Tatsinskaya on the previous evening. Although tired, themechanics had worked at the aircraft until late at night, the machines now standing at readiness, fueled and bomb-laden, on the take-off area, pending orders to get airborne.
